Brief history of 96.7 Star Energy FM Dumaguete

DYEM ENERGY FM went on air for the first time in March 26,1980 in the height of the Martial Law years. Five years later, its owner the Negros Broadcasting and Publishing Corp. was granted a legislative franchise no. RA 8661 by the Congress and signed by President Ramos. The sponsors of the legislative franchise were Rep. Miguel Romero in the Lower House and Senator John Osmena in the Senate.

Its newspaper arm THE NEGROS CHRONICLE was earlier established in June 12, 1973, in just nine months after Martial Law was declared in the country by then Pres. Marcos.

Despite its being born during the Martial law years, both this paper and DYEMfm has managed to maintain an independent editorial policy.
